Dimyana Pelev, native of Bulgaria, is an energetic artist who has been practicing her theatrical skills for over 25 years.  An award winning actress and singer, Pelev has also worn the hats of designer, writer, lyricist and most prominently director, choreographer, wining several awards for directing.

 

Pelev serves as Musical Theater Faculty for Idyllwild Arts Academy, as Adjunct Theatre Faculty for Chaffey College and since 2006 Pelev has served as resident choreographer for Stars of Tomorrow Children’s Theater, a company devoted to producing quality theater and an exceptional learning experience for youth. In addition to teaching youth, Pelev has co-created an advanced acting program specifically for teens and just recently directed a sixth annual showcase. 

 

Some of Pelev’s credits include work with puppetry, masks and ensemble music.  Pelev has annually directed and choreographed for Kimberly Juniors Etiquette Academy, leading 100+ high-school girls in a musical spectacular. Pelev has had the pleasure of choreographing and directing for prestigious theatrical companies and community theaters all over Southern California in addition to teaching theater for toddlers, ballet, tap and jazz for several years.

 

Some favorite directing credits include; Fools, Li'l Abner, The Secret Garden, Love in a Time of War, The Fantasticks, Star of Bethlehem, Renescense, Snow White, Accidental Love and Cinderella. 

 

Some favorite choreography credits include; A Funny Thing...Forum, Oklahoma!, Annie Get Your Gun, She Loves Me, A Chorus Line, Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame and Once Upon a Mattress.

Some favorite performance credits include; My Fair Lady (Eliza Doolittle), Sound of Music (Maria), The Fantasticks (Luisa), Shop Around the Corner (Anna), Meet Me in St. Louis (Esther), Lady Jane, Queen for Nine Days (Jane), and Love in a Time of War (Natasha), Camelot (Guinevere).   

 

For 20 years Pelev has trained vocally with Professor Patty Gee of Chapman University and has released a duo album with Jen Opean, "Christmas Night", featuring Christmas favorites classically remixed.

 

Pelev has studied at LAMDA, New London Theatre, and holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Redlands with an emphasis on directing and children’s theater and her M.A. in Theater from Regent University.
